Wisconsin football landed a commitment from three-star class of 2026 quarterback Ryan Hopkins on Sunday.
Hopkins is the program’s fifth commitment in the class at this early stage in the 2026 cycle. He also becomes the group’s only signal-caller, as former quarterback commit Jarin Mock decommitted in mid-January.
The Badgers are looking for a third consecutive top-25 finish in the national recruiting rankings after terrific 2024 and 2025 outputs. Much of that success was due to the program’s number of top-end commitments — it landed 18 blue-chip recruits out of 45 total commitments over those two cycles, good for a blue-chip ratio of 40%. That number is worth bookmarking with Wisconsin still searching for its first four-star addition in the class of 2026.
The program’s recruiting performance will be a major storyline this summer after a 5-7 2024 season and an overall disappointing first two years under head coach Luke Fickell. Furthermore, it enters the peak recruiting season after recently losing ace general manager Max Stienecker to Big Ten rival USC.
A trend in high school recruiting performance is often a strong signal of program health. While the on-field results in 2025 and 2026 will matter far more to Fickell’s future, another top-end recruiting class would do wonders for his status and the overall sentiment surrounding the program.
