Down to single digit days until the Texas game, Ohio State is going to have eyes all over them on Aug. 30. The matchup everyone is waiting for, the Buckeyes won’t just be busy on the field against the Longhorns, but off the field as well with their recruiting efforts.
A guest list that couldn’t be more loaded with talent, it’s going to be an impressive haul of players the Buckeyes have on site to see them open the season, and several of those targets are excited about the chance to take it all in. One prospect that has made it clear he is ready to see Columbus is four-star running back, Elijah Kimble.
The No. 131 player nationally and eighth best back in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, Kimble has near 40 offers to his name and is keeping Ohio State very much in the mix.
A recruiting cycle that is likely to take two running backs, position coach Carlos Locklyn was hopeful 2026 would work out the same way, but this far into things, that goal might get pushed a year. That said, the Buckeyes have the chance to host one of their offerees in Kimble, and his time on campus soon will be time well spent as he’s been vocal about wanting to see Ohio State again for himself.
The interest from both sides is definitely there, and that bodes well moving forward.
2028 safety prospect locks in visit date
There’s plenty of other home games outside of the matchup against Texas for the Buckeyes to use as recruiting opportunities. Using each home weekend to show off the program to the guys on their recruiting board, this coaching staff will be busy to say the least following each game, trying to make lasting impressions on players from all over the country.
