Texas A&M HC Mike Elko will speak on July 17 during SEC Media Days

Texas A&M’s 2025 football season will officially kick off on Saturday, August 30, against UTSA in Kyle Field. With the annual Maroon & White spring game set for Saturday afternoon, “Talking season” will officially begin next month and last throughout the summer, leading to SEC Media Days in mid-July.

Heading into his second season at the helm, head coach Mike Elko understands that the fan bases’ usual high expectations were tempered after the Aggies’ 1-4 finish last season, and with starting quarterback Marcel Reed returning, combined with a veteran offensive line, enhanced talent at wide receiver, and a loaded running back room, the heat under OC Collin Klein’s seat will increase if he doesn’t have to take advantage of the talent at his disposal.

Defensively, the return of starting cornerback Will Lee III, combined with veteran corner Tyreek Chappell and former Georgia CB Julian Humphrey in the secondary, should bolster the Aggies’ pass defense next season, but depth questions remain.

At linebacker, 2025 team captain Taurean York and senior Scooby Williams look like one of the better 1-2 combinations in the middle, while the defensive line features edge rushers Cashius Howell and Rylan Kennedy, who make up the Aggies’ pass rush will be aided by defensive tackles DJ Hicks and Albert Regis, but like the secondary, depth issues could arise in the middle of SEC play.

When will Mike Elko and his player representatives speak at SEC Media Days? According to the schedule, Texas A&M will be the last team on Thursday, July 17, to talk to the media, which, for Elko, is likely great news given that Tuesday’s schedule includes Steve Sarkisian (Texas), Kirby Smart (Georgia), and, concerning all the Nico Iamaleava drama, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel.

Texas A&M’s Maroon & White spring game will be on Saturday, April 19, at 2:00…
