FSU football’s Jayvan Boggs has stepped up in the wide receiver role as a freshman during spring the spring. Here’s what he said about his experience so far.
Jayvan Boggs, a freshman wide receiver, has quickly impressed at Florida State’s spring football practice.Boggs, the 2023 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football, followed offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn from UCF to FSU.He aims to contribute significantly in his first season and has developed a strong connection with quarterback Tommy Castellanos.
It didn’t take Jayvan Boggs long to become comfortable with Florida State football.
One of the most accomplished wide receivers in Florida high school football, Boggs has been a standout for the Seminoles in spring practice as a freshman.
He admitted it took a few days of camp to adjust, but Boggs quickly came up to speed with his new team.
“Coming in first day, I didn’t have any expectations, I just was trying to get adjusted,” Boggs said. “After I’d say that first week … I was in my groove and ready to go.”
Boggs’s words have been backed up with glowing reviews from head coach Mike Norvell, offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and players alike throughout spring practice.
In the lone chance the media had to view a scrimmage, Boggs popped up with a few clean routes and impressive plays.
A crafty receiver, Boggs posted 2,133 yards and 24 touchdowns on 99 catches in his senior season for Cocoa, winning a 2A state title, his third high school title. He won the Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football honors in 2023 as a junior after a 1,493 yard and 24 touchdown year on 93 catches.
He followed Malzhan to Tallahassee after he decommitted to UCF when Malzahn took the FSU offensive coordinator role. Boggs’s familiarity with him helped the freshman come up to speed and…
