Top 10 tackle in 2027 very high on the Oklahoma Sooners as recruitment picks up

The Oklahoma Sooners have moved the needle for one of the best offensive tackles in the 2027 recruiting class, Cooper Hackett. Hackett is considered the No. 4 offensive tackle in the class according to On3 and is No. 20 overall in their recruiting rankings.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound offensive tackle is an incredible athlete, also starring for Fort Gibson on the basketball court. Hackett moves really well in space and plays with aggression. There’s a lot to like about his game heading into his junior year and he’ll continue to improve. It’s understandable why the Sooners and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh have made him a priority.

But the Sooners will have to win a recruiting battle that’s beginning to heat up. According to 247Sports, he holds eight offers from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. Expect that list to grow over the next year and a half.

I spoke with Hackett and it seems the Sooners have made quite the impression early in his recruitment. Hackett told me that along with Oklahoma, Nebraska has really stood out to him thus far in the recruiting process. Since his trip to Norman, he’s also gone on visits to College Station and will spend time with the Cornhuskers this week.

On his most recent visit

“My visit was great having all of the former Sooners there,” Hackett said. “I got to talk to Lane Johnson and Teddy Lehman. I’m going to get some work in with Lane soon.”

On what it means to be recruited by the Oklahoma Sooners

“Being an instate kid having Oklahoma recruiting me means a lot growing up a fan,” Hackett said.
