Jacob Crow from Tennessee state champion picks Texas Tech football

TSSAA football championships: Alcoa 40, Westview 21

Alcoa won its 10th consecutive TSSAA football championship with a 40-21 win over Westview on Friday at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. Eli Graf was named MVP.

The Lubbock area experienced a weather scare on the evenings of Wednesday and Thursday, June 5 and 6, in the form of tornados. On Sunday, June 8, the Texas Tech football team landed a large Tornado.

Jacob Crow, a 6-foot-8, 300-pound offensive lineman from Alcoa, Tennessee, committed to the Red Raiders. The Alcoa Tornadoes went 13-1 this past season, winning a Class 3A state championship. Crow announced his pledge on social media.

Crow’s been offered scholarships by 33 programs, according to recruiting services, the most prominent in addition to Texas Tech being Northwestern, Virginia Tech, Air Force, Navy, Troy, Toledo and Marshall. He had an official visit with Red Raiders beginning on Friday and also has a visit scheduled to Memphis.

Crow played mainly right tackle this past season for Alcoa, which won its 10th consecutive state championship by beating Martin Westview 40-21. The Tornadoes lost their season opener and then won 13 in a row.

Crow earned first-team all-state recognition. Alcoa is 14 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Texas Tech now has 11 commitments for its 2026 class. Only three are projected to play offense: interior lineman Jerald “J.J.” Mays from Pflugerville Weiss, quarterback Stephen Cannon from Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia, and Crow.

The other pledges are defensive linemen Ayden Johnson from Mount Pleasant and Krush Johnson from Amarillo Tascosa; linebackers Tieson Ejiawoko from Georgetown…
