UF spring transfer tracker: Orlando DT leaves Gators

GAINESVILLE — UF coach Billy Napier stabilized his roster during his fourth offseason with the Gators following their first winning season since 2021.

Following the Orange and Blue spring game April 12, he said expected virtually everyone to be with the Gators when fall camp opens.

“We’ve reached agreements with 98% of the team,” Napier said. “We’re just one or two players away from being done.”

Even so, some attrition is inevitable and not every player fits the long-term plan.

Two reserve defenders, tackle D’Antre Robinson, a former Orlando Jones standout, and safety Gregory Smith, have decided to move on.

LEAVING

DT D’Antre Robinson

Vitals: 6-3, 303 pounds

Resume: Robinson was the No. 4 player in the Sentinel’s 2024 Central Florida Super60 who became the first Jones defensive player at UF since defensive tackle Jaye Howard, who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in ’12 after playing from 2007-11. Jones coach Elijah Williams played at UF from 1994-97.

During his senior season, he recorded 79 tackles, 10 sacks, 9 additional tackles for loss and an interception. Robinson originally committed to Texas, but school officials released him from his National Letter of Intent on Jan. 16, 2024.

Role: Robinson tallied 17 tackles, including 3 for loss (1.5 sacks), recovered a fumble and had a quarterback hurry during 11 appearances. He started his first game and made 3 solo tackles during Dec. 20 Gasparilla Bowl against Tulane.

Outlook: Robinson appeared poised for a larger role, but suffered an undisclosed injury during the spring game. He was slated to back up Caleb Banks at a position where the…
