Tennessee is already working toward its 2027 football recruiting class. The Vols offered four-star edge rusher Derwin Fields a scholarship on Wednesday.
“After a great conversation with coach Tim Banks, I’m blessed to receive an offer from Tennessee,” Fields announced.
The 6-foot-5, 227-pound prospect is from Brookhaven High School in Brookhaven, Mississippi. 247Sports ranks Fields as the No. 9 edge rusher and No. 2 player in Mississippi for the class of 2027.
Ole Miss was the first school to offer Fields a scholarship on March 25. Additional offers for the 2027 prospect include Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Southern Miss, North Carolina, LSU, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.
Tennessee does not have any commitments in its 2027 recruiting class. The Vols have seven commitments in 2026: Quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw and defensive lineman C.J. Edwards.
