Notre Dame lands commitment from Winter Park DB Ayden Pouncey

Winter Park’s Ayden Pouncey, the No. 11-ranked safety in the country according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, followed in his brother’s footsteps Saturday, and committed to play for Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Pouncey, who is ranked as the No. 6 player in the Sentinel’s 2026 Central Florida Super60, picked the Irish over 46 other FBS scholarship offers, including Florida, FSU and UCF, Miami, Georgia and LSU.

In 2016, Pouncey’s brother Jordan Pouncey, also committed to Notre Dame, but back then, it was the Brian Kelly era for the Irish. Jordan eventually flipped his commitment and ended up signing at Texas in 2017. He finished his playing career at Florida, as did middle brother Ethan Pouncey.

Jordan, who is now an assistant coach at Winter Park, was excited for his brother.

“I am super excited for him. You know how I feel about the University of Notre Dame. I love it,” Jordan Pouncey said. “It is an amazing place and I cannot wait to spend my Saturdays watching my brother play under Touchdown Jesus.”

There is a whole new landscape at Notre Dame these days, with fourth-year head coach Marcus Freeman. The Irish are coming off an appearance in the College Football Playoff national championship game. The Irish lost to Ohio State 34-23 in January.

Ayden Pouncey, rated a 4-star prospect by 247 sports, had 2 interceptions and 20 tackles a year ago for 7-4 Winter Park.
