Rutgers Football Lands Kent State DT Oliver Billotte and LIU OL Moshood Giwa In The Transfer Portal

Just before the spring game kicked off on Saturday, Rutgers landed former Kent State Defensive Tackle Oliver Billotte and former LIU offensive lineman Moshood Giwa in the transfer portal.

Billotte comes to the Scarlet Knights with one year of eligibility remaining. During his 2022 freshman campaign at Kent State, he appeared in 12 games and would win the starting job during his sophomore year in 2023. During his second year, he recorded 30 total tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.0 sack on the year. He was named the starter for the 2024 season, but he suffered a season ending injury early on.

During his first two years with the Golden Flashes Billotte’s Defensive Line Coach was Colin Ferrell, who has been the Rutgers Defensive Line Coach since 2024. Billotte will most likely be a depth piece for Rutgers, so they can have a deeper rotation on the defensive line.

Giwa is a much different story, as he comes to Rutgers with plenty of time to develop and three years of eligibility remaining. Giwa is listed at 6-foot-6, 302 pounds. He was unranked coming out of high school and spent two years at LIU. He redshirted his first year in 2023 however he started 12 games during his redshirt freshman year in 2024. According to Pro Football Focus, his highest performance grades last year came against TCU.

The coaching staff likely sees a lot of unrefined potential in Giwa and is hoping that with the proper development, he can become a solid option for the Knights later down the line. Hopefully, he can be one of those talents that slipped through the cracks that Rutgers has developed a knack for finding.
