Haywood star had 27 offers from Power 4 schools
Haywood football star, Caden Harris, committed to Vanderbilt and Clark Lea on April 29 during a livestream commitment event on 247Sports’ YouTube page.
Harris, a 6-foot junior, had offers from 40 schools, 27 of which were from Power 4 programs, including Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Missouri, Georgia, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.
Before his commitment, Harris cut his list down to five, including Auburn, Georgia, Missouri, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.
Harris finished with 30 tackles, one for loss, and defended seven passes and had an interception last season. As a punt returner he averaging 30 yards per return and brought one back for a touchdown against Crockett County. Offensively, he caught 37 passes for 782 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Haywood went 8-4 in 2024, finishing second in Region 7-4A and ending the season with a loss to Melrose in the second round of the TSSAA Class 4A playoffs.
Vanderbilt went 7-6 in 2024 with a 5-3 record in SEC play, ending with a Birmingham Bowl win over Georgia Tech.
