The Wisconsin Badgers are nearing the decision of another target in the 2026 class, as three-star defensive lineman Blake Smythe is announcing his commitment on Friday.
Smythe, a native of Indiana, is down to six schools: Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Louisville, and Michigan State.
He currently has two official visits planned: one to Wisconsin and one to Indiana, but is now making his commitment before the summer begins.
Wisconsin has one defensive lineman in the fold thus far with three-star Carmelow Reed, but Smythe and his 6’3, 275-pound frame would be another addition at a position of need.
The Badgers are expected to take around three defensive linemen in their 2026 class, so nabbing commitments from Reed and Smythe before the summer would go a long way to rounding out the position group ahead of official visits.
Smythe was on campus for Wisconsin’s second junior day back in March, and could be the team’s fourth commitment from the state of Indiana already in the Class of 2026.
The Badgers have landed three-star wide receiver Tayshon Bardo, three-star cornerback Carsen Eloms, and three-star offensive lineman Benjamin Novak from Indiana. Can Smythe be the fourth in the class?
He’ll make his commitment on Instagram Live at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
