Colton Hood left Auburn following the 2023 season, and is back in the SEC after spending last season at Colorado.
A former Auburn defensive back is making his way back to the SEC via the transfer portal.
Colton Hood, who signed with Auburn as part of its 2023 signing class, is on the move again. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports that Hood is transferring to Tennessee after spending the 2024 season at Colorado.
Hood signed with Auburn as a three-star cornerback from the 2023 recruiting cycle, joining fellow cornerbacks JC Hart, Kayin Lee, and Champ Anthony. Hood played four games during his lone season in Auburn, totaling three tackles in 44 snaps. A bulk of his time on the field came in Auburn’s Music City Bowl loss to Maryland, where he notched all three tackles in 33 snaps.
His production increased at Colorado, where he played in all 13 of the Buffaloes’ games. He recorded 24 tackles with two interceptions and allowed opposing receivers to catch 53.1% of passes thrown his way. Hood, the nephew of former Auburn cornerback Roderick Hood, returns to the SEC intending to become a productive defensive back for the Tennessee Volunteers.
Hood is one of 11 players from Auburn’s 2023 signing class to leave the program, joining several notable names such as Darron Reed Jr., Tyler Scott, Terrance Love, and JC Hart. Several players who remain with the program and have made an early impact are Keldric Faulk, Kayin Lee, and Connor Lew.
