LB Izayia Williams flips to Ole Miss

Florida football lost one of the top members of its 2026 recruiting class on Friday when four-star linebacker Izayia Williams flipped his commitment to a fellow Southeastern Conference rival, the Ole Miss Rebels.

Williams gave his word to the Gators back at the beginning of March in an effort spearheaded by new assistant coach Robert Bala and supported by defensive coordinator Ron Roberts. The 6-foot-1.5-inch, 215-pound defender was previously committed to the Florida State Seminoles before flipping to the Orange and Blue.

His latest move makes it now five different schools — which also includes the Louisville Cardinals and Syracuse Orange — for the blue-chip prospect out of Tavares (Florida) before his collegiate career has even begun.

The coveted linebacker had made an official visit to Oxford last weekend before completely clearing out his Instagram account, save for a photo from his stop with the Rebels. At that point, the writing was clearly on the wall, leaving the Gators with just a single commitment from four-star quarterback Will Griffin in the 2026 cycle.

Recruiting Summary

Williams is rated at four stars and ranked No. 51 overall and No. 3 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 41 and 3, respectively. ESPN and Rivals also rate him at the four-star level.
