Colorado cornerback Colton Hood will transfer to Tennessee football, he announced on social media.
“Let’s do it vol family #GBO #Hoodera thank you Jesus!!,” he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on May 2.
Hood was expected to help replace Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter as one of Deion Sanders’ starting cornerbacks at Colorado. Instead, he’ll help Tennessee fill a position of need.
Hood was in a four-man rotation at cornerback last season for Colorado. With Hunter headed to the NFL, Hood was expected to compete for a starting spot in 2025.
Hood, a 5-foot-11, 190-pounder, is from Conyers, Georgia. He began his career at Auburn.
Defensive back John Slaughter and offensive tackle Larry Johnson recently committed to transfer from Tennessee to Colorado.
The transfer portal closed April 25 to new players entering it. But Tennessee is still active in trying to bolster its roster.

Hood had 24 tackles, two interceptions, one tackle for loss and six pass breakups for Colorado last season. He played all 13 games with two starts. He returned those two interceptions for 105 yards. And he also had six kick returns for 119 yards.
Hood made three tackles in 2023 at Auburn, and he took a redshirt.
Hood was a four-star prospect coming out of Eagles Landing Christian Academy. He was ranked the No. 38 cornerback and No. 375 prospect overall in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports Composite.

All-America cornerback Jermod McCoy suffered a torn ACL in January. Rickey Gibson, the other starting cornerback, planned to enter the portal, but he instead practiced through spring and remained on the team….
