The Georgia Bulldogs are pursuing several highly-rated prospects, with offensive coordinator Mike Bobo recently undertaking recruiting visits to some of these key targets this week. Bobo was expected visiting with the nation’s No. 1 quarterback, Jared Curtis, ahead of his commitment. However, Curtis cancelled his final visits with Georgia and the Oregon Ducks ahead of his May 5 commitment.
Curtis is ranked as a five-star recruit. He is ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the nation and the No. 1 prospect in Tennessee. Curtis is deciding between Oregon and Georgia. Georgia got the final recruiting pitch in with Curtis ahead of this commitment.
“I think they’re a powerhouse and they have great coaches all around. They have the players up there and they’re very disciplined. The biggest thing is the relationship with Coach Bobo and what they do with quarterbacks,” Curtis said. “Coach Bobo has a long history and he’s done great as an offensive coordinator and I’m looking forward to getting back up there,” Curtis said to On3 (subscription needed).
Having earned Gatorade State Player of the Year honors in Tennessee and the prestigious Mr. Football award last fall, Curtis is a highly accomplished quarterback. His junior season saw him complete over 70 percent of his passes for an impressive 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns, while throwing only three interceptions. He also demonstrated his dual-threat ability by adding 637 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. A seasoned three-year starter, Curtis boasts career totals of 7,665 passing yards with 92 touchdown passes, along with 1,663 rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns.
