Vols offer scholarship to 2027 quarterback

Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class. The Vols offered a scholarship to four-star quarterback Malachi Zeigler.

“Grateful for Mack Scanlon spending time at our throwing session and for offering to Vol football,” Ziegler said.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect is from Benton High School in Benton, Louisiana. Zeigler ranks as the No. 9 quarterback in 2027 and No. 7 player in Louisiana.

Grambling State was the first school to offer a scholarship to Zeigler on May 18, 2024. Additional scholarship offers for the 2027 prospect include Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech, SMU, Mississippi State, Jackson State, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Louisiana, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Houston, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC and Florida State.

Tennessee does not have any commitments for its 2027 football recruiting class. The Vols have seven commitments in 2026: Quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw and defensive lineman C.J. Edwards.
