5-star QB Jared Curtis announces commitment between Oregon and Georgia

The Oregon Ducks were in position to land one of the biggest commitments of the Dan Lanning era, but the cards didn’t fall in their direction in the end.

On Monday, 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs, joining Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo down in Athens. He was down to a final two schools of Oregon and Georgia, but ended up with the Bulldogs, who he was previously committed to a handful of months ago.

Curtis, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound passer, is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 1 QB in the nation. He took a visit to Eugene earlier in March, and was scheduled to take an official visit in June, but decided to shut down his recruitment early make his decision sooner rather than later.

This has been a long recruitment for Oregon and Curtis, who was previously committed to Georgia before opening things back up at the end of last year. Led by a strong relationship with offensive coordinator Will Stein, the style of offense that is played in Oregon was said to be appealing to Curtis throughout the process, as was the development that has been displayed with guys like Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel, and now Dante Moore.

However, there was a strong pull for Curtis to stay closer to home and go to Georgia, and in the end that had a major role to play in his decision to go with the Bulldogs.

In his junior year at Nashville Christian, Curtis completed over 70 percent of his passes for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns, with just three interceptions. He also rushed for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns.
