Penn State football earns commitment from linebacker

Penn State football’s 2026 recruiting class is continuing to round into form.

On Monday afternoon, the Nittany Lions earned a commitment from 3-star linebacker Mathieu Lamah, who attends Patriot High School in Nokesville, Virginia.

Lamah ranks as the No. 14 player in the state, No. 42 linebacker in the class and No. 543 overall prospect, per the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds.

Lamah visited campus on June 12, 2024, one of two official visits. The other was to former Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry at Virginia Tech. In addition, Lamah held offers from Michigan, South Carolina, Wisconsin, North Carolina and others.

He becomes the second linebacker to join the class in a span of four days, with newly promoted linebackers coach Dan Connor picking up a pair of key victories on the recruiting trail. Four-star Terry Wiggins joined the group on Friday.

Penn State’s 2026 class is now up to 15 total members, with several more additions likely. The program tends to bring in roughly 20-25 recruits per cycle, leaving room to add to a class that now ranks No. 4 nationally and No. 3 in the Big Ten behind No. 1 USC and No. 3 Ohio State.

The 2026 class has a good chance to finish as the Nittany Lions’ highest group since the 2022 class, which ranked No. 6 nationally and tied for head coach James Franklin’s highest unit.
