OXFORD — Lane Kiffin has added another quarterback to Ole Miss football’s quarterback room
Oklahoma State quarterback Maealiuaki Smith is transferring to Ole Miss, per multiple reports on May 6. Smith is the second quarterback in three seasons to transfer from OSU to Ole Miss, joining Spencer Sanders, who played for the Rebels in 2023.
Smith, 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, was a true freshman at OSU in 2024 and comes to Ole Miss with four seasons of eligibility. He was a three-star recruit. He started the final two games of the season for the Cowboys and played in four total games. Smith was 44-for-77 passing for 489 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.
Smith is from Sacramento, California, and attended Junipero Serra High School where Tom Brady played.
Former OSU wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling transferred to Ole Miss in December. Smith and Stribling were teammates in 2024. Stribling caught one of Smith’s two career touchdown passes when he scored a 14-yard touchdown against Texas Tech last November.
Ole Miss has added three transfer quarterbacks but one, Louisville transfer Pierce Clarkson, has already re-entered the portal. The Rebels will likely rely on Smith and Trinidad Chambliss to back up Austin Simmons.
