Wisconsin made the top six schools for class of 2026 athlete Messiah Tilson on Tuesday. The program was included along with Iowa State, Kansas, Rutgers, Minnesota and Iowa.
247Sports currently lists Tilson as a three-star recruit, ranked specifically as the No. 500 player in the class, No. 37 safety and No. 12 recruit from his home state of Illinois. The recruiting service notes that the 6-foot-2 athlete has already visited Illinois (April 11), Iowa (April 18) and Wisconsin (April 23), plus is scheduled to travel to Minnesota on June 13. Of course, only three of those four made the athlete’s list of finalists.
247Sports has yet to release a crystal ball prediction for Tilson’s landing spot. On3’s recruiting prediction machine lists Iowa as the favorite at 39.2%, with both Wisconsin and Minnesota close behind at 26% and 22.2%, respectively.
Wisconsin’s class of 2026 currently ranks No. 43 in the nation with six players committed. The group is set to grow significantly over the next few months as the summer recruiting blitz heats up. While the Badgers will need commitments from a host of blue-chip recruits if they are to repeat their consecutive top-25 finishes in the 2024 and 2025 cycles, beating rivals Minnesota and Iowa for Tilson would also be a major win.
The Rockford, Illinois, native has yet to announce his commitment date. For more on the Badgers’ recruiting efforts in the class, bookmark our class of 2026 commitment tracker.
