While Colorado is in the midst of a quarterback battle for the 2025 season, Deion Sanders is making a play to secure the future of the Buffaloes’ quarterback depth in 2026.
The Buffaloes offered 4-star quarterback Kayd Coffman, who is committed to Michigan State. In his junior season, Coffman took his high school, East Kentwood (Mich.), to a playoff appearance while completing 56% of his passes.
The Grand Rapids native is known for a strong arm and making accurate long throws off balance, throwing for 12 touchdowns and 1,600 yards last season. Coffman isn’t the most athletic quarterback but can still use his legs when needed.
Coffman has offers from Cincinnati and Iowa State, fellow Big 12 schools. However, according to 247Sports, Colorado is the only school that has sent an offer since his commitment to Michigan State on Feb. 7.
If the Buffaloes can’t flip Coffman away from his hometown school, the future of their quarterback room remains in good hands. Colorado brought in 5-star phenom Julian Lewis last offseason, and the young quarterback showed flashes of his immense potential in the spring game.
