The Cincinnati Bearcats are adding to their Big 12 football staff with the hiring of special teams coordinator Luke Paschall, who served in the same role last season at Middle Tennessee State. The Enquirer confirmed the information that first came out Thursday afternoon, May 8.

With the Blue Raiders, Paschall’s troops had a First Team Conference USA long snapper, a second team all-conference punt returner and an honorable mention true freshman punter.

The 42-year-old Paschall is a former Middle Tennessee State receiver who played in one bowl game for the Blue Raiders and has coached in nine bowls along his various stops. The Cincinnati Bearcats will be his 10th stop in a coaching career that began in 2007. Paschall’s résumé includes stops at Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Massachusetts and Louisiana with the last five positions involving special teams coordinator duties.

Cincinnati Bearcats now have full-fledged special teams coach

UC coach Scott Satterfield indicated special teams would be handled by committee at one point with Tim Conner listed as assistant special teams coach. Paschall fills the void left by the departure of Kerry Coombs last December when UC’s 5-7 season was marred by a plethora of special teams errors.

The Paschall hire is not yet official as it will have to go through UC’s human resources process.
