With spring practices and transfer portal shuffling more or less complete, outlets around the country are updating their top 25 rankings.
ESPN unveiled its post-spring way-too-early top 25 rankings on Thursday. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach left the Hawkeyes outside his post-spring top 25 rankings.
Schlabach did rank Big Ten foe Penn State as the No. 1 team nationally exiting the spring. The rest of the top five features Clemson at No. 2, Texas at No. 3, Georgia at No. 4 and defending national champion and fellow Big Ten foe Ohio State at No. 5.
Other Big Ten teams that cracked the rankings include Oregon at No. 8, Illinois at No. 11, Indiana at No. 17 and Michigan at No. 20. In all, six Big Ten teams were ranked. The SEC led the way with nine ranked teams, while the Big 12 had five and the ACC four.
