This next season of Oregon football might be a little different from the previous season under head coach Dan Lanning, who will be entering his fifth season at the helm.
Many new faces will make a huge impact on the success, or the lack of success, for the Ducks in this upcoming football season. Hopefully, it’s the former for Oregon and not the latter.
According to ESPN writers Craig Haubert and Billy Tucker, Oregon football is No. 1 where newcomers who will play an immediate impact from Day 1 of the 2-25 college football season.
They say wide receiver Dakorien Moore will mean to the Ducks what Jeremiah Smith means to the Ohio State Buckeyes, a playmaker that will be difficult to contain for defenses.
“Moore, a five-star prospect, looks like the next breakout star at the position. Moore has elite big-play speed, runs excellent routes and has a high football IQ and fierce competitive demeanor,” ESPN said. “All of those tools can make him a featured target right away for a playoff contender that lost three of its top four pass-catchers from 2024.”
They also mention true freshman Trey McNutt and Na’eem Offord will play a significant role on the defensive side as well.
Oregon, as per usual, has hit the transfer portal to fill some spots on the roster, but these transfers, and the amount of them, are ready to play key roles for the Ducks. They mention running back Mahki Hughes from Tulane to take Jordan James’ carries and two transfers to solidify the offensive line.
“To help open running lanes, the Ducks pulled several offensive line starters out of the portal. Both (Isaiah) World and (Emmanuel) Pregnon are poised to anchor the left side of the offensive line,” ESPN said.
