5-star OT Jackson Cantwell commits to Miami Hurricanes

The aspirations of getting Miami back to the top of the college football world have been at the forefront for Hurricane fans for nearly two decades.

On Tuesday, they started on the path back forward in a big way.Mario Cristobal landed his biggest recruiting win since arriving in Coral Gables as Nixa (Mo.) five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell committed to the Hurricanes.

A consensus top-five prospect according to each major recruiting outlet, Cantwell chose Miami over Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon.

In the days leading up to his decision, Georgia and Miami appeared to be the frontrunners in his recruitment. He took trips to both schools just days before his decision.

Cristobal hasn’t had many issues landing five-star talent since arriving at Miami. However, Cantwell differs slightly from the other five stars who ended up in Coral Gables.

Cantwell is Cristobal’s highest-ranked commitment since he was named the Hurricane’s head coach in December 2021.

247Sports ranks him as the No. 3 player in the class and No. 1 offensive tackle. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the nation’s top recruit.

His commitment may also jump-start a 2026 class for the Hurricanes that needed a spark.

Cantwell is Miami’s 10th commitment in the class and the first pledge ranked inside the top 100.

Entering the day, Miami’s class ranked as the No. 19 class in the country.
