Missouri football 2026 recruit decommits, recruiting class falls to two

Missouri football’s Class of 2026 is back down to two players.

Three-star safety D’Montae Tims confirmed to the Tribune on Thursday that he has decommitted from Mizzou, reopening his recruitment. The news was first reported by John Garcia Jr. of Rivals.

Tims, who is listed at 6 foot 1, 195 pounds, said that he is still considering Missouri during his recruiting process.

But in the meantime, the Tigers have lost one-third of their 2026 recruiting class. 

Mizzou has two players committed in its next class: Three-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar and four-star defensive lineman Anthony Kennedy Jr.

Tims originally announced his pledge to Missouri on April 4, meaning a little more than a month passed between his commitment and decommitment. In the recruiting service 247Sports’ composite rankings, the Seffner, Florida, product is the No. 76 safety in his class and the No. 956-ranked player overall.

He has a wide array of Power-conference offers, ranging from Vanderbilt and Ole Miss in the SEC to Louisville and UCF in other conferences.

With just two verbal commitments, Missouri dropped to No. 74 in 247Sports’ Class of 2026 team recruiting rankings. That ranks behind the likes of Northern Illinois, San Diego State and Oregon State.

It is not, however, last in the SEC. Florida and Kentucky each have just one commitment in the Class of 2026 to date. Other than Mizzou, the Gators and the Wildcats, no other SEC team has fewer than five pledges in the 2026 class.

In head coach Eli Drinkwitz’s tenure, the summer months have typically been when the Tigers have picked up the bulk of their high school recruits. Those are again expected to be active months for…
