Notre Dame commit Jonaz Walton effectively shuts down his recruitment

Following my commitment. I will no longer be taking official visits to Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida.

It has become very common for a recruit to commit to a school even though he’s already scheduled official visits in the future, which is exactly the case for Notre Dame football’s newest 2026 verbal, running back Jonaz Walton.

While he did commit to the Irish on Wednesday, he had multiple official visits still on the books. However, on Thursday morning, Walton went to social media to announce that he will not be taking those visits, in essence locking in his commitment to Notre Dame.

He had planned on taking visits to see Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida, but as of right now, those won’t be happening.

This is clearly great news for the Irish, as the potential for him to flip would have been there if those trips ultimately were taken. As of right now, you can pretty much lock Walton in the Notre Dame 2026 recruiting class.
