Missouri State football lands Division II standout DL

Missouri State football has added a big body to the interior of its defensive line via the transfer portal.

Ahmad Poole, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle, announced his commitment to the Bears on Monday morning.

Poole is a transfer from FCS North Carolina A&T State. He spent the spring with the Aggies after spending the previous three seasons with Division II Virginia State.

In 2024, Poole had 28 total tackles (three for a loss) and 2.5 sacks at Virginia State.

Missouri State had been looking to strengthen the interior of its defensive line throughout the spring transfer cycle, and Poole becomes the first defensive tackle to commit.

The Bears return defensive tackles Ryan Williams, Tim Brantley Jr. and Gilles Tchio, among others, but they needed to add additional depth. Last season, the Bears’ rushing defense ranked 95th in the FCS, allowing 177.9 yards per game.
