Colorado has a ton of roster turnover coming into the 2025 college football season, which often comes with quite a few question marks. Whoever takes hold of the three positions vacated by Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders could ultimately be a deciding factor in where this season ultimately goes. Our staff at Buffaloes Wire put together our thoughts on the biggest question facing Colorado football this fall.
Griffin Dreifaldt: Can Colorado run the ball effectively? How significant is the drop-off in QB play?
Can Colorado finally run the ball with some authority? In the Deion Sanders era, Colorado has yet to have a single running back hit 400+ total rushing yards in a season. The second part is how significant a drop-off in QB play we will see from Shedeur Sanders to Kaidon Salter or Julian Lewis. If the drop-off is not as steep or even nonexistent, Colorado can be an excellent team in 2025.
Xavier Michnewicz: Will Colorado stop the run?
Colorado struggled last season in stopping the run. After upgrading its offensive line and revamping its linebackers, perhaps the Buffs now have enough defensively to slow the opposition on the ground.
Jack Freeman: Is the offense the difference for a solid running game?
Last year, the Buffaloes averaged 2.5 yards per carry, a truly horrendous mark. It’s already tough to win games, let alone when the offense is handicapping itself and only using its right arm. If the offensive line can open up gaps for Micah Welch, Dallan Hayden and DeKalon Taylor, the sky is the limit for this offense. Kaidon Salter has the arm to kill defenses that are worried about a good running game. Give him one, and watch the fireworks fly.
