Bald Eagle Area’s Carson Nagle threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns to lead the West all-star team to a 14-0 win over the East all-star team Sunday in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Small-School game at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.
Bishop Guilfoyle’s Hamilton Gates caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Nagle with 2:59 left in the first quarter, and Tyrone’s Trent Adams hauled in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Nagle at 9:40 of the third for the only scores in the game.
Penn Cambria’s Gavin Harrold led the West with seven receptions for 122 yards.
West Catholic’s Kal-El Durham led the East all-stars with 80 yards passing on 7 of 16 passing and 45 yards rushing. Tri-Valley’s Blake Schwartz added 62 yards passing on six completions.
Wyoming Area’s Lidge Kellum had 27 yards on eight carries, and Western Wayne’s Josh Vinton had 22 yards on five carries.
The East defense allowed 31 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Wyoming Area’s Randy Spencer coached the East all-stars.
In addition to Kellum, Wyoming Area was represented by athlete Kevin Wiedl, offensive lineman Chase DeSanto, defensive lineman Andrew Steinberger and kicker/punter John Turner, who had a 31-yard punt.
Vinton, defensive back Sean Owens and defensive lineman Evan Dean represented Western Wayne. Scranton Prep linebacker Reese Tanner, Lackawanna Trail’s Max Kimmel and linebacker Logan Edwards and Riverside tight end Richie Kostoff were also members of the East team.
Big 33 Classic
Scranton defensive lineman Dyjeere Weekes is next to play on the all-star game circuit.
The 6-foot-2, 310-pound All-Region standout is a member of the Pennsylvania all-star team that will play the Maryland all-stars in the Big 33 Classic on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.
