Holmdel star quarterback Jack Cannon announced his college choice on Thursday. The standout signal caller committed to Dartmouth over more than 20 other Division I offers.
The Shore’s top quarterback prospect in the class of 2026 was a multi-year standout for Holmdel, helping to reform the team into a contender since taking over as a starter. Since assuming the starting role as a sophomore, Cannon led the Hornets to 17-3 record over the past two seasons.
He blossomed as a junior under the offense of first-year head coach Noel Kavanagh this past fall, accounting for 37 total touchdowns as an elite dual threat quarterback who reached the rare feat of passing for over 2,000 yards in addition to rushing for over 1,000 yards.
An explosive athlete at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, the growth of his passing game in more a wide-open spread attack attracted the attention of college coaches. He threw for 2,008 yards and 19 touchdowns to only three interceptions with a 70% completion percentage. He rushed for 1,095 yards and another 18 touchdowns.
Although he had been part of the recruiting circuit in the summer before his junior season, he had received no offers. In the seven months since the end of the season, he received 22 Division I offers. That list included multiple FBS offers from college programs like Temple, Old Dominion, Massachusetts, Navy and Buffalo.
