Ohio State football just picked up another pat on the back for a job well done.

The defending national champions were ranked by The Athletic as the college football’s best program that first quarter of the century. Going to be interesting to see if Ohio Sate remains there in 2050.

The numbers actually made the case for Ohio State, which was ranked ahead of Alabama, Oklahoma and Georgia.

Over the past 25 years, Ohio State had the highest winning percentage in the game. The Buckeyes also won three national titles, nine conference titles and had the most wins against Top 10 teams, a ridiculous 39.

During the winning stretch, Ohio State was ranked in the Top 25 93 percent of the time and had only one losing season. That came in 2011, after Jim Tressel resigned and was replaced on an interim basis by Luke Fickell.

The Big had eight other teams make the cut: No. 7 Oregon, No. 8 Southern California, No. 11 Michigan, No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 17 Penn State, No. 23 Iowa, No. 24 Washington and No. 25 Michigan State.
