For the first year since Eli Drinkwitz took the helm in Columbia in 2020, Missouri football has not experienced any turnover at either offensive or defensive coordinator between seasons.
Corey Batoon is back for Year 2 of running the defense. Kirby Moore, after some not-insignificant NFL speculation, is entering his third season with the Tigers.
But who will be wearing the headsets on the opposite sideline?
Mizzou will face just one new head coach this upcoming season, but only five teams on the Tigers’ regular-season schedule return their full cast of head coach and coordinators from the 2024 campaign. MU will face six new offensive play callers and three new defensive coordinators in the 2025 season.
Here are the HCs, OCs and DCs the Tigers are up against, with all first-year coaches marked with an asterisk (*):
Central Arkansas, Aug. 28
Head coach: Nathan Brown (Eighth year)
Offensive coordinator: Brown (First year)*
Defensive coordinator: Chad Williams (First year)*
Brown announced after the end of the 2024 season that he will take over offensive play-calling duties for the Bears next season — a role he held for four seasons at UCA before being named head coach in 2017. Williams joined the Bears from Southern Miss.
Kansas, Sept. 6
Head coach: Lance Leipold (Fifth year)
Offensive coordinator: Jim Zebrowski (First year)*
Defensive coordinator: D.K. McDonald (First year)*
It’s a (somewhat) new play-calling dawn in Lawrence. Both of KU’s 2025 play callers are assistants who were elevated into coordinating roles after the end of last season.
Zebrowski was promoted to the Jayhawks’ full-time offensive coordinator at the end of last season after a year as the Co-OC and quarterbacks coach.
