Michigan State has reportedly found its next athletic director.
Multiple reports have come out that Michigan State will hire Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt for the same position. Batt will take over for Alan Haller, who was let go last month.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Sunday afternoon that Michigan State is close to hiring Batt. That report was later confirmed by Justin Thind of 247Sports.
Batt spent two years at Georgia Tech as the athletic director, where he has quickly became one of the top fundraising athletic directors in all of college sports. Prior to his time with Georgia Tech, Batt was the executive deputy director of athletics, chief operating officer and chief revenue officer at Alabama for five years, and worked closely with former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Sabin and men’s basketball head coach Nate Oats.
Tony Paul of the Detroit News reported earlier on Sunday that Batt was an emerging name in the athletic director search for Michigan State. It was only a few hours later that things became more apparent that he’ll be taking over as the Spartans’ next athletic director.
At the time of this post, no official announcement of Batt’s hire has been made by Michigan State. Spartans Wire will update with further news as it progresses.
