3 Star Linebacker Adam Shaw Commits to Rutgers Football

Rutgers Football has landed three star New Jersey Linebacker Adam Shaw. He is the second New Jersey commit of the 2026 class, joining offensive tackle Cameron Greene. He is also the second linebacker commit of the 2026 class joining Ohio product Joey Kopec.

Shaw is 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, and plays quarterback/safety at Pascack Valley High School. He is expected to make the transition over to linebacker when he gets to college.

As a junior in 2024, Shaw recorded 1,341 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,021 yards and 15 touchdowns, on his way to all-state honors. He led the Panthers to a deep playoff run and a 10-2 record overall.

According to an interview done by ScarletNation, Shaw has no issue making the move to linebacker for Rutgers.

“They really like me at linebacker,” Shaw said. “I have the size, speed, and frame. And I’m completely fine with that. I just want to play football and win. That’s my number one goal in this recruiting process. I don’t care what position, I just want to play.”

He also runs track for his high school and recorded times of 11.32 seconds in the 100 meters event and 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

He chose Rutgers over offers from Duke, Michigan State, Pitt, and Wake Forest. Michigan State was a serious threat in particular to land Shaw since both of his parents were athletes for the Spartans.

He is currently ranked as the No.16 best player in New Jersey.
