How transfer receivers are boosting Michigan football

DETROIT — Michigan football didn’t exactly overhaul the wide receiver corps this offseason, but it did make some moves it hopes will revamp the position group.

The Wolverines lost Tyler Morris and Amorion Walker to the transfer portal, but they returned everyone else — namely, Fredrick Moore and Semaj Morgan, as well as the second-year players, I’Marion Stewart and Channing Goodwin. But they also added two wideouts via the portal in Donaven McCulley from Indiana and Anthony Simpson from UMass, as well as the three freshmen in Jamar Browder, Andrew Marsh, and Jacob Washington.

“You’ve got some of the guys, Fred and Semaj, older guys now, Peyton O’Leary. Then you have the young guys, Andrew Marsh and Jamar Browder. Those guys made some big leaps this spring as well.”

Though Bellamy is a former receiver himself who now finds himself coaching at his alma mater, when he came…
