UNC football adds commitment from OL Mason Wilhelm

Another 2026 recruit has committed to North Carolina

The North Carolina Tar Heels football program continues to make progress with its 2026 recruiting class, landing another commitment on Sunday.

Three-star interior offensive lineman Mason Wilhelm became the latest player to commit to the Tar Heels for the 2026 when he pleged his verbal commitment. He did so at the conclusion of his official visit this weekend, wasting no time in picking the Tar Heels.

Wilhelm had a total of 26 offers in his recruitment and landed one from UNC in early April. He also had offers from Maryland, Pitt, Baylor, Vanderbilt and West Virginia among others. The lineman took his visit to UNC this weekend and was also set to visit Pitt, Vanderbilt and Maryland in June.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Wilhelm hails from Lakewood, Ohio, and attends St. Edward High School. He’s ranked No. 102 among offensive linemen and the No. 63 player in the state of Ohio per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

The addition of Wilhelm gives UNC three commitments in the 2026 class which is currently a top 20 class per 247Sports.
