After attending his official visit with Rutgers last weekend, former USF commit Athlete Rinaldo Callaway III flipped his commitment to the Scarlet Knights. While his recruiting profile does have the general designation of “Athlete” as his position, he is likely to play either Tight End or Edge Rusher at the next level.
His frame makes him viable at both positions, standing at 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds. He will need to gain some weight, but there is time for that between now and when he is expected to step onto a college field.
In addition to his commitment to South Florida, he also held offers from Kentucky, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech. Callaway only needed one visit to Rutgers to cancel all of his remaining official visits and flip his current commitment.
During his junior season at Southwest High School in Macon, Georgia, Callaway racked up 100 total tackles (66 solo), 29 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, three passes defended, and three forced fumbles. On the other side of the ball, he caught 17 passes as a tight end for 274 yards and three touchdowns.
Callaway is the third commit of 2026 from the state of Georgia and is a good example of Rutgers’ growing recruiting success down south.
