One of the greatest college football coaches of all-time and someone who has plenty of experience with Michigan State has high praise for the Spartans’ new athletic director.
Former national championship winning head coach Nick Saban was one of many to show respect and praise towards the Spartans’ hiring of J Batt as the next athletic director this week. Saban — who once coached at Michigan State — worked with Batt at Alabama from 2017-22 so he is well aware of what Batt is capable of doing in his new role with the Spartans.
Here’s what Saban had to say about Batt — courtesy of Michigan State athletics:
“As J Batt takes the helm of Michigan State Athletics, the Spartans enter a new era—one defined by hard work, dedication and a relentless drive for excellence. In a time of staggering change across college sports, his vision and leadership are exactly what the Spartans need to thrive. J did an outstanding job for us at Alabama before taking over at Georgia Tech, where he brought renewed energy and strategic growth to the Yellow Jackets—laying a strong foundation of competitive success. He is the perfect fit in East Lansing to help build champions on and off the field, and leading MSU with purpose into the future.”
Batt was officially hired by Michigan State as the next athletic director earlier this week. He comes to Michigan State after serving as the Georgia Tech athletic director since 2022. Prior to that, he worked at Alabama for five years where he served as the executive deputy director of athletics, chief operating officer and chief revenue officer.
