Clemson lands commitment from 2026 4-star OL Carter Scruggs

Clemson has landed another key piece to its 2026 recruiting class, as four-star offensive lineman Carter Scruggs announced his commitment on Wednesday, according to multiple sources.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound standout from Loudon County (Leesburg, VA) picked the Tigers shortly after wrapping up his official visit to campus last weekend. Scruggs had upcoming visits scheduled to Michigan, Penn State, and Georgia, but those plans are now off the table.

This wasn’t Scruggs’ first time in Clemson. He previously visited for the Elite Retreat back in March and named the Tigers his leader following that experience. His pledge brings Clemson’s number of offensive line commitments in the 2026 class to six, joining fellow four-stars Braden Wilmes, Adam Guthrie, Grant Wise, Chance Barclay, and Leo Delaney, who announced on Tuesday.

Scruggs is rated as the No. 159 overall prospect, the No. 8 offensive lineman, and the No. 3 player in Virginia by Rivals. He’s also ranked No. 9 among interior offensive linemen and No. 161 overall by 247Sports, while On3 lists him as the No. 10 IOL and No. 154 overall player nationally.

With Scruggs and three-star defensive end JR Hardrick both announcing on Wednesday, Clemson now holds 18 total commitments in a class that was already ranked in the Top 5 nationally. Offensive line coach Matt Luke continues to be one of the program’s most impactful hires, helping lead the way in building one of the Tigers’ deepest O-line groups in years.
