Conner football coach Dave Trosper dies

Dave Trosper, head football coach at Conner High School, died Saturday, Conner principal Andy Wyckoff confirmed to The Enquirer. He was 55.

Trosper was Conner head coach since 2007, Northern Kentucky’s longest current head football coaching tenure.

He had helped coach the West team at the Northern Kentucky senior all-star game Thursday night.

“He was a good man. Great role model for kids,” Wyckoff said.

Trosper graduated from Boone County High School in 1988. He played football for Owen Hauck there, starting at linebacker for three years and serving as team captain his senior year. He was an all-state honoree that year, and helped the Rebels play in the state championship game that year and in 1987.

Trosper went to Union College where he played football and was twice an all-conference pick. He was a two-time captain and team Most Valuable Player, and graduated with the single-game record for tackles with 19.

He began coaching right after college, coaching three years as linebackers coach at Union and six years as linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator Morehead State before moving back to the area to be the head coach at Holmes High School.

He was defensive coordinator at Holmes for one year and head coach for five, before moving to Conner in 2007.

Trosper was a business teacher at Conner.
