Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties are blessed with an abundance of high school football talent, and college coaches have taken notice. Here’s a list of area players who have received offers thus far.

Caleb Gordon

Committed to: Arkansas; Gordon chose the Razorbacks over Appalachian State, Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech, among others.
The scoop: Finished last season with 141 tackles (eight for a loss), four sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
Ely Hamrick
Crest | Sr., QB
Committed to: Virginia; selected the Cavaliers over Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Kentucky and Toledo.
The scoop: Split the season between A.C. Reynolds and Crest, during which he completed 59% of passes for 1,965 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for 521 yards and eight touchdowns.
Grant Lawless
East Lincoln | Sr. QB
Committed to: Wake Forest; chose the Demon Deacons over Bryant, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Lenoir-Rhyne and Towson.
The scoop: A 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback, he has completed just shy of 63% of his passes for 4,249 yards and 56 touchdowns, while throwing only five interceptions.
