Michigan football recruiting is heating up in a big way with the Wolverines having gotten their eighth commit on Monday with 2026 Chicago (Ill.) Simeon four-star edge rusher McHale Blade pledging, and another expected after head coach Sherrone Moore put out the proverbial bat signal that someone else is in the fold.
Though there are a few candidates that have been bandied about — including Liberty Hill (Tx.) defensive tackle Alister Vallejo and Mansfield (Tx.) wide receiver Zion Robinson — there at least is some movement for the maize and blue and another top prospect who appeared to be off the board.
Michigan gets a prediction for a Georgia commit
While the SEC has tended to steal away players from schools in other conferences, since Michigan football started playing the NIL game, it has turned the tables. Last cycle, the Wolverines flipped Georgia commit Shamari Earls, LSU commit Bryce Underwood, and Alabama commit Ty Haywood. And now, the maize and blue look to steal from the Bulldogs yet again.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the Wolverines are in a good position for 2026 Cartersville (Ga.) four-star wide receiver Brady Marchese, who has been committed to Georgia since March 2025. So much so, he put in a prediction that he’ll end up choosing the maize and blue over his hometown team.
The Wolverine’s Ethan McDowell joined Wiltfong in putting in the flip prediction for the maize and blue on Tuesday, as well.
A fast flip
Michigan football managed to surprise by getting Marchese to visit Ann Arbor for the May 30 official weekend, and thought the Wolverines made him think, it didn’t appear as if they made that strong of a move.
After all, on Monday, after visiting Athens again, Marchese told On3’s Chad Simmons that his commitment to the Bulldogs was solidified. (subscription required)
