Oklahoma State football adds Stillwater QB Mason Schubert, per report

STILLWATER — In need of more depth at quarterback, Oklahoma State stayed close to home in filling the need.

Recent Stillwater High School graduate Mason Schubert has joined the Cowboys as the team’s fourth quarterback, first reported by PokesReport.com.

Schubert is a 6-foot-2, 193-pound left-hander who threw for nearly 1,900 yards with 26 touchdowns and three interceptions as a senior last fall.

After Garret Rangel and Maealiuaki Smith entered the transfer portal in April, the Cowboys were down to two quarterbacks, Zane Flores and Hauss Hejny.

They added true freshman Banks Bowen late in the spring transfer portal window, but with the need to limit quarterbacks’ throws in practices, particularly throughout the fall, another player was needed.

Schubert was initially headed to Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford before changing course, according to the report.

As the No. 4 quarterback on the roster, Schubert’s primary assignment will be to mimic opponents’ offenses with the scout team in the fall.
