California linebacker John McClellan committed to play football for Colorado State University.McClellan, a three-star recruit, recorded 157 tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, and 5.5 sacks during his junior season.McClellan’s commitment is part of a recent surge in recruiting activity for CSU.

The latest commitment in the 2026 Colorado State football recruiting class is a tackling machine from California.

John McClellan of Rancho Cotate High School committed to the Rams with an announcement on X on June 10.

McClellan is a 6-foot-3, 214-pound linebacker. As a junior in 2024 he had a staggering 157 tackles, which included 15 tackles-for-loss, 5.5 sacks and he scored two touchdowns.

McClellan is ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports and has reported offers from Utah State, UNLV, Sacramento State and others.

McClellan was recently on a recruiting visit at CSU as the as part of a surge that saw the Rams land 11 commits in a matter of days. The names of those commits are still trickling out as they announce publicly.
