Rutgers football has added a four game home and home series against Temple to the 2030-2033 seasons. The first game will be hosted by Temple at Lincoln Financial Field, with the next game scheduled to be at SHI Stadium. Temple will host games one and three while Rutgers will host games two and four.
Rutgers and Temple have faced off 38 times with the Scarlet Knights holding a 23-15 series lead over the Owls. Both teams were conference opponents in the now defunct Big East conference from when Rutgers was admitted for football in 1995 until Temple was kicked out in 2004, due to struggling team play. Rutgers has dominated the series recently, winning seven straight including their last matchup in 2023 where the Knights beat the Owls 36-7. One of those wins came in 2021, when Rutgers trounced Temple 61-14
Rutgers has a few other teams on their future out of conference schedules as well. Those teams include Boston College, Kent State, Miami-Ohio, Norfolk State, Ohio, and UMass. Out of all the teams currently scheduled, only one is in the power four. That is likely to change as more games get scheduled.
