Arizona State football Rodney Bimage Jr. discusses his vision for the 2025 season in terms of himself and the Sun Devils as a whole for 2025.

Arizona State’s failure to land the top local football prospects has been documented.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham and his staff have made progress, but they’re still not where they want to be in that regard, despite coming off an 11-3 showing and a Big 12 championship.

Dillingham said the staff is trying new strategies — not all of which he wanted to detail. One that is being promoted by him across his social media streams is a so-called “Golden Ticket.” A select number of prospects in the 2027 class will get that special scholarship offer, starting June 15, the first day coaches can initiate contact with athletes in that class.

The theory is that it will show those recruits that they are a high priority for the coaching staff.

“That class, you’re going to see some special things going out to a select few guys in the state,” Dillingham said. “I’m born and raised here, and a lot of our staff is from here. We’re trying to figure out this secret to recruiting this state. We’re doing everything we can. What we’re doing right now isn’t necessarily working at the highest level yet. So we’re going to change our strategy.

“To me, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So we’re going to change it up. We’re going to recruit the kid in the state a little differently. Some people may like it. They may not like it. It doesn’t matter because what we’re doing isn’t working to attract the highest-level player.”

ASU has 16 recruits in its 2026 class, with eight of them hailing from Texas and three coming from California. That class is highly-regarded with 247Sports…
