LSU baseball assistant coach Josh Jordan could be in the mix for the head coaching job at Duke.
The Duke job came open on Tuesday with head coach Chris Pollard leaving to accept the same position at Virginia. Immediately, Jordan’s name was mentioned on social media as a potential replacement.
Jordan plays a critical role across the LSU program. He serves as the Tigers third base coach and coaches the catchers and first basemen. He’s also the recruiting coordinator.
Jordan spent nearly a decade as an assistant on Duke’s staff before joining LSU in the summer of 2022. Given Jordan’s ties to Duke and his success at LSU, his name makes a lot of sense for the job.
That would leave LSU head coach Jay Johnson with a big hole on his staff, but Johnson is no stranger to assistant coaches getting head jobs. After LSU won the national championship in 2023, pitching coach Wes Johnson left for the head job at Georgia. When you win as much as LSU, it comes with the territory.
But as the coaching carousel continues to spin, LSU turns its attention to chasing another national title in Omaha this week. The Tigers will kick off their CWS run vs. Arkansas on Saturday night.
