Florida Football Recruiting: DE JaReylan McCoy commitment

Florida football’s recruiting efforts have been bearing some very nice fruits of late, including a recent commitment from ESPN five-star defensive end JaReylan McCoy in the 2026 cycle.

The 6-foot-7-inch, 260-pound defender out of Tupelo (Mississippi) was originally committed to the LSU Tigers but reopened his recruitment in February, adding the Gators and Texas Longhorns into the equation out of 36 total schools that handed him offers. McCoy made an official visit to Gainesville from March 31 to June 1 while swinging through Oxford the following weekend to see the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Magnolia State product was scheduled to head out to Austin this weekend to visit with the ‘Horns, but instead circled back to the Orange and Blue for a second stop, and ultimately, his verbal commitment. According to ESPN, McCoy’s connection with head coach Billy Napier and defensive ends coach Mike Peterson, along with the program’s “family atmosphere,” compelled him to return to campus.

He also has a strong relationship with defensive lineman coach Gerald Chatman and inside linebackers’ quality control coach Cannon Gibbs.

“They got something good going here,” McCoy told Swamp247 previously. “They’re trying to get the best of the best here, and around each other.”

JaReylan McCoy Recruiting Summary

McCoy is rated at four stars and ranked No. 121 overall and No. 16 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 163 and 17, respectively. Meanwhile, ESPN gave him five stars and ranked him at Nos. 9 and 2, respectively.
